Oh the places you'll go!

It's been a while since we've posted about our humble cat.
So it is with great pleasure and joy
that I show you all the places that our photogenic feline sat
but at the same time, be oh-so-coy.

He starts out his days doing cart-wheels and 'jacks
outside our bedroom, he thinks and he ploys,
"To open their door, I'll get running then 'SPLAT!'
That will get 'em up, oh yes - oh boy!"

*(note reflection in the glass)*

After shoes have been thrown and his belly's been fed,
he hops in the shower to sprinkle water on his head.
A short-lived spritz before a chase-down from Bobby,
he heads to the litter pan with his "Men's Health" and coffee.

He spends his days chasing flies and dust bunnies
and when he gets tired he'll sit kinda funny.
He'll crawl under the sheets or under the dresser
and play hide-and-seek with his "roommates," but he's not the guesser :o)

Around 5 o'clock, he'll get pretty hungry,
so what does he do? He sits by the laundry.
He'll prod our dinner plates with his delicate paws,
clearing the table with one big "swoop" without flaw.

It's off to the kitchen he goes to stand at my feet,
following me around like some little lost sheep.
Curled up in a hat or under a bike,
he finally settles down for the rest of the night.

It's a tough job, but somebody's gotta do it!

In Christ Alone

"At the moment of Jesus' death, the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom." -Matthew 27:51

As many of you know, Easter Sunday marks the cornerstone of the Christian faith. It is one of my favorite holidays, as it allows me to think and meditate on the significance of Jesus Christ. At the time of Jesus' death on the cross, the curtain separating God from humanity was torn in half. No longer was the barrier there. No longer would we die for our own sins and selfishness. The lamb that was sacrificed for passover to cover the sins of the people in Egypt was represented by Jesus on that day. How can we ignore such a love as that whenever we see His arms stretched across the cross? "I love you this much." Every Easter since high school, I have always loved listening to a popular Christian song, that describes the undeniable miracle that happened on Easter morning. Here are some of the lyrics from Newsboys, "In Christ Alone:"

"In Christ alone my hope is found
He is my light, my strength, my song
This Cornerstone, this solid ground
Firm through the fiercest drought and storm
What heights of love, what depths of peace
When fears are stilled, when strivings cease
My Comforter, my All in All
Here in the love of Christ I stand

In Christ alone, who took on flesh
Fullness of God in helpless babe
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones He came to save
'Till on that cross as Jesus died
The wrath of God was satisfied
For every sin on Him was laid
Here in the death of Christ I live

There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave He rose again
And as He stands in victory
Sin's curse has lost it's grip on me
For I am His and He is mine
Brought with the precious blood of Christ

No guilt in life, no fear in death
This is the power of Christ in me
From life's first cry to final breath
Jesus commands my destiny
No power of hell, no scheme of man
Can ever pluck me from His hand
'Till He returns or calls me home
Here in the power of Christ I'll stand
."

I hope that each one of you were blessed this Easter as we celebrated the resurrection of Jesus.

Variety Hour with B-to the-O-to the-B

So neither Bobby nor myself are Irish, however, everyone is Irish on St. Patties day! For those of you who don't know, Bobby and I drive to and from work together every day and today, my husband woke up singing all the Irish songs and blessings and jigs he could think of. So in the spirit of St. Patrick and with Green Mudslides in hand, I thought I'd share some of the more humorous ones with you!

Bobby Jig #1:
Here's to the wine we love to drink and the food we love to eat
and to our wives and sweethearts and may they never meet.
Here's Champagne for our real friends and real pain for our sham friends
and when this journey finally ends, may all of us find peace.

Bobby's song #2:
Here to all the women that I've loved and all the one's I've kissed.
As for regrets I have just one, that's all the one's I've missed.
While women's faults are many, us men have only 2:
every single thing we say and everything we do!

Jesus Freaks

Let's go back about about 10-15 years. I was sitting outside my big brother's bedroom door listening to him and his buddies listening to some kind of rock music - not uncommon in the year 1993, as my brother was in college and frequently played the guitar. Although, I specifically remember hearing the words, "Jesus Freak" in one of the songs. The former band, DC Talk, was what was blaring on the radio. Perhaps one of the first bands to start an era of Christian Rock, I was hooked. 10-15 years later at around 1:00am, I am writing to you as I just got home from seeing TobyMac in concert! For those of you still clueless as to who TobyMac is, he was one of the guys in DC Talk (the one who used to do the rapping). Anyways, it was an amazing show and brought me back to those good old days of listening to my older brother and sisters listen to those oh-so-classic Christian songs. My friend, Candice, who was nice enough to invite me to the concert, were SO ecstatic to hear TobyMac's closer, "Jesus Freak." If only I had thought to take a movie... Anyway, some pictures from the night. Also, Jeremy Camp and Matthew West opened for Toby - they were pretty good too!

This is me and the boys... Toby is on the left and Jeremy Camp is on the right.

Jeremy came out at the end to assist in singing "Jesus Freak."Candice and I ditched the husbands for a night and had a blast at the concert!

Africa

...but not quite. What do I do on days when I'm sick? That's right, I sew. My mother was so kind as to give me my first sewing machine this Christmas! I have been experimenting with several different projects around the house so far. But today, sore throat, stuffy nose and all, I sat and sewed 2 new pillows! Now, for those of you who've been to visit us recently, we have a zebra print rug in our breakfast nook, but nothing, necessarily, to accent it in our family room! On my way home from Annapolis the other day, I felt led to make an impulse buy and purchase zebra print fabric for pillows to tie in the whole Zebra thing.
So I spent a good 2 hours sewing together 2 new pillows for our couch - a feat of Home Economics since 7th grade! Bobby spent 5 minutes trying to get the cat to hold still for the picture. I think he told the cat that he would end up on one of those pillows if he wasn't good (totally kidding, of course)! Killian is more of a Bovine print than a zebra print! ;o)
