No, I didn't take this... but this is what I was going for!
We have had quite a series of thunderstorms down here in St. Mary's county lately. Feeling pretty confident on how to use some of the advanced features on my camera, I decided that I was good enough to try and take a picture of lightning!
So I mosey out onto our deck one Tuesday afternoon while the storm rolls in. After spending about 10 minutes trying to hook my camera up to my brand spankin' new tripod, the storm has finally moved right over top of us. Lots of lightning, lots of thunder... "this should be cake," I thought to myself. Five more minutes later, I finally figure out how to leave the shutter open (to collect all of the light from the lightening bolt) so I'm good to go now. First shot... nothin'. Second try, I miss the lightening (ever heard the saying "Lightening never strikes the same place twice?" Yea, just my luck). At about mid-third try, the heaven's opened up and let loose. The rain was diagonal at this point and the unruly deluge got me quickly inside.
No lightning shot...not this time anyway. So for now, here's my lame picture of the storm clouds that my cat could have taken. Blah, stupid lightning.
